Description from dust jacket:
The Fanneals had adopted for a companion to their only son a child of unknown heredity, who, a mere baby, had come toddling across the park one day to play with little Steve Fanneal. They named the boy Jerry, since his only memory is for some one he calls "Keeban," and the children grow up, devoted to each other. Jerry becomes engaged to a girl prominent in society and when she is brutally attacked and robbed, while supposedly in the company of her fiance, he is at once accused of the crime. He protests his innocence and no one believes him but Steve, and Jerry escapes the police. Steve follows Jerry into the "underworld" to help him and then the two are caught in a wild whirl of adventures among safe blowers, counterfeiters and worse -- which taxes all the wits of Jerry and Steve to evade and circumvent. A love affair further complicates the situations.

The story sets a swift pace at the start and carries it through to a whirlwind finish which is intensely dramatic.
